BEST LINKS OF THE WEEK (on popular demand)
My favorite finds
📣 I relaunched my podcast and renamed it. It’s now What’s New With Advertising.
I, along with Marco Lange (who’s been running an ad agency for 10 years & my new partner in the podcast), discussed:
What’s new in advertising
What’s working for us (ads format or media buying tactics) & why
What you can steal and immediately apply
It’s less than 20 minutes (at least we try to). You get all the juice that I normally don’t share in this newsletter.
The podcast is raw, real, and very tactical. If you are an ad nerd, you’d enjoy it.
Give it a watch or listen. You won’t regret it. And if you like it, don’t forget to like and subscribe.
This past week, I've been creating ads that quickly grab attention and make a connection.
The idea is to use well-known household brands to simplify advertising lessons, making them easy to understand and use right away.
And then you can steal to try this week :-)
Let’s get into it.
Ad # 1

Principle: Premium affordability
The visual gives a premium feel, but the headlines push affordability.
Ad # 2

Principle: The 3s Effect
Rapid-fire benefits: freedom from the tank, from gas, and from constraints.
Principle: Contrasts of physical and digital
The Ad Contrasts the idea of physical crashes with the digital intelligence that prevents them.
Ad # 3

Principle: Metaphorical Effect
We’re suggesting the long-term benefits of developing imagination.
Principle: Contrast of visible and invisible
Generally, muscles are visible, and this motivates us for the exercise, but here we’re contrasting them with invisible muscles.
Ad # 4

Principle: Unseen Danger
We’re using the wrench shadow to symbolize unseen dangers that may come later.

Tools worth checking out:
Atria: You're only as good an advertiser as your swipe file. Atria helps save good ads and analyze them in-depth. But the best part? Their AI helps me create concepts and scripts within seconds. Check it out for free. Most importantly, they now have built-in ad analytics to make more winning ads.
Creative OS: Don’t waste your designer’s time in copying swipe files. Get all static ad templates to increase your experiments and ad creatives’ velocity. Check it out here.
Ad # 5

Principle: Double Meaning
It merges the idea of safe travel (tourism) with safe sex, turning a single phrase into two layers of meaning.
Ad # 6

Principle: Everyday Relevance
The Ad Speaks plainly to a universal scenario—road trips—and positions Oreos as the go-to companion.
Some of the below ads I actually created for clients.
Ad # 7

Principle: Absurd Alternative
We’re depicting stiff jeans as cardboard and highlighting these jeans as a softer, more flexible fit.
Ad # 8
Principle: Metaphor
We’re framing the product as a “hero,” making it feel like a superhero’s life-saving power.
Ad # 9
Principle: Visual Hyperbole
We show a man wearing jeans holding heavy kettlebells to exaggerate their jeans’ stretch and durability.
